DPL * Dynamic Pulsed Light
Here is your Guide to DPL, a new wonderful skin rejuvenation treatment.
At The Gua Sha Facial Co., I specialize in advanced, non-invasive skin treatments designed to improve clarity, brightness, and overall skin health.
One of my most popular treatments is DPL Skin Rejuvenation — a gentle light-based therapy that helps reduce redness, refine texture, and promote a smoother, more even complexion.
What skin concerns can DPL treat?
DPL (Dynamic Pulsed Light) is highly effective in improving a range of visible skin concerns. It works by delivering controlled light energy into the skin to help support skin regeneration and a clearer, more balanced complexion.
DPL may target:
-
Pigmentation and uneven skin tone
-
Post-inflammatory acne marks
-
Redness or flushed skin appearance (Rosacea and/or Enlarged capillaries)
-
Mild scarring
-
Visible pores and uneven texture
-
Fine lines and early signs of aging
-
Stimulating collagen and elastin
The result is smoother, brighter, and more refined-looking skin.
Is DPL suitable for my skin type?
DPL treatment is generally suitable for skin types I–III (fair to medium).
However:
-
Olive or warmer skin tones may require 2–3 additional sessions for best results.
-
Dry or dehydrated skin may experience temporary dryness or a mild peeling following treatment.
Pro Tip:
I add and recommend pairing DPL with a Hydrafacial to deeply hydrate the skin before the DPL treatment. Following with:
-
A hydrating sheet mask post-treatment. This can help cool the skin as well as add more hydration.
This helps maintain comfort and support recovery.
How many sessions are needed to see results?
Most clients notice brighter, more even skin tone immediately after the first session.
However, lasting improvement occurs gradually across a series of treatments.
Recommended Treatment Plan:
Mild Redness / Uneven Tone / Rebuilding Collagen/Elastin for Lines/Wrinkles/Firmness
3 sessions, Best if treated 2, up to 4 weeks between sessions
Pigmentation / Mild Acne Marks
3–6 sessions, Best if treated 2 up to.. not over 4.. weeks between sessions
Hyperpigmentation / Photoaging/Dark Spots
6–9 sessions Best if treated 2 up to...not over 4... weeks between sessions.
Consistency is the key.
Maintenance:
Once results are achieved, one treatment every 3–6 months is recommended to maintain skin clarity and prevent new concerns from forming.
Is DPL treatment painful?
DPL is generally very comfortable and non-invasive.
You may feel a gentle warmth during treatment. But with the new technology, with the cooling system, you may not feel any warmth.
If the light passes near moles, broken skin, or active irritation, you may feel a little heat. I will always try to avoid these zones and adjust settings for your comfort. Always let me know if you feel any sensitivity — I will tailor the treatment to your skin in real time.
What is the downtime after DPL?
There is minimal to no downtime.
Most clients return to normal activities immediately.
You may experience:
-
Mild warmth
-
Light dryness
-
Temporary sensitivity
These effects usually settle within a few hours.
Are there any side effects?
Side effects are typically mild and temporary, such as:
-
Slight redness
-
Temporary darkening of pigmentation (a normal part of the fading process)
-
Light dryness or tightness
-
Temporary skin sensitivity
VERY rare effects may include swelling or blistering.
